Hello everyone,
I am considering getting a Doberman as a pet for my family, however, I am worried about whether or not they are safe around children. I have two young children, ages 3 and 5, and I want to make sure that they will be safe and not at risk of harm from the dog.
I have heard mixed opinions on the matter, some people say that Dobermans can be aggressive and dangerous to children, while others say that they are loyal family pets and gentle around kids. I want to hear from people who actually have experience with owning or being around Dobermans.
If you have a Doberman or know someone who does, I would love to hear about your experiences with how they interact with children. Are they generally safe and gentle around kids, or do they have a tendency to be aggressive? Are there any particular behaviors or training techniques that can help ensure that they are safe around children?
I appreciate any insights or advice that you can offer on this topic. Thank you in advance for your help.

Hey there,
I grew up with a Doberman, and she was one of the sweetest and gentlest dogs I've ever known. She adored children and was always very patient and loving with my younger sister and me. We were able to play with her, pet her, and snuggle with her without any fear of aggression or danger.
However, my experience is not representative of all Dobermans, and I certainly think that it's important for owners and parents to be cautious and aware of the potential risks associated with any breed of dog. While my family's Doberman was kind and gentle, I have heard stories of other Dobermans who have been aggressive or territorial around children.
Ultimately, I think that the key to having a safe and happy household with a Doberman (or any other breed of dog) is to prioritize socialization, training, and attentive supervision. This means exposing the dog to a variety of people, animals, and environments from an early age, investing in professional training and behavior management, and always supervising interactions between the dog and children to ensure that everyone is safe and comfortable.
Hope my experience helps in making an informed decision!
