Q:

Are Dobermans good with children, other pets, and strangers?

Hi everyone,

I've been considering getting a Doberman as a family pet, but I'm not sure if they're good with children and other pets. I have two young children and a cat, and I want to make sure that the dog we get will be able to adapt well to our family life.

Additionally, I want to make sure that the Doberman will be friendly towards strangers, as we often have guests over at our home. I don't want to have to worry about the dog being aggressive towards visitors.

Are Dobermans good with children, other pets, and strangers? Any input or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hey there,

I've owned a Doberman for a few years now and I can confidently say that they are great with children. My Doberman loves to play with my kids and is very gentle and affectionate towards them. In fact, sometimes I think she sees herself as their protector!

As for other pets, I have a small dog as well and at first, there was a bit of tension between the two of them. However, with a bit of socialization and training, they have learned to coexist peacefully. My Doberman also gets along well with other dogs that she meets while out on walks.

In terms of strangers, my Doberman is initially quite wary, but she will warm up to people quickly with a bit of positive interaction. I did socialize her early on to ensure that she was friendly and well-behaved around people.

All in all, I believe that Dobermans can make great family pets as they are loving, loyal, and intelligent. However, it's important to invest the time and effort into training and socialization, as with any breed of dog.

Hi there!

I have a Doberman and I can say with confidence that they are great with children and other pets. My Doberman loves to play with my kids and is very gentle with them. He also gets along well with our cat and has never shown any aggression towards her.

As for strangers, my Doberman is a bit cautious at first but warms up quickly. He's never shown any signs of aggression towards strangers, and instead prefers to greet them with a wagging tail and a friendly demeanor.

Of course, every dog is different and has its own unique personality. However, I believe that with proper socialization and training, Dobermans can make great family pets.

Hello,

I have had Dobermans in the past and can say that they are very protective of their family members. In my experience, my Doberman was very affectionate towards my children and very patient with them. Even when my youngest child would pull her tail or ears, the dog never responded with aggression. However, there were a few times when the Doberman growled at strangers who approached our house, but I believe this was their protective instinct kicking in.

One thing I would recommend is proper training and socialization on leash to prevent any potential conflicts with other dogs or strangers. As with any dog, it's important to establish rules and boundaries early on and remain consistent with them. Overall, I believe that Dobermans can make great pets, but they do require a certain level of responsibility and commitment.

I hope this helps!

Hello,

I have owned two Dobermans, and in my experience, they are very intelligent and trainable dogs. Both of my Dobermans had a tendency to be a bit dominant with other dogs, but I have never experienced any issues with them being aggressive towards people or children.

I will say that it is important to socialize any dog, including a Doberman, to ensure that they are friendly and well-adjusted with other animals and strangers. This means exposing them to a variety of people and situations early on, and giving them plenty of positive reinforcement for good behavior.

Dobermans can make great family pets, but they do require a lot of exercise and mental stimulation. If you're considering getting a Doberman, make sure that you have the time and resources to provide them with the care and attention they need.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

I have owned a Doberman for a few years now and I can say that they are great with children and other pets. My Doberman is extremely gentle and affectionate with my kids, and they love to play together. She also gets along very well with our cat and even tries to play with him – although the cat doesn't always appreciate it!

One thing to keep in mind with Dobermans is that they can be very high energy and require a lot of exercise. I make sure to take my dog on long walks or runs every day to keep her physically and mentally stimulated. This helps prevent any destructive behavior that she might display if she gets bored.

As for strangers, my Doberman is initially quite wary, but she warms up quickly with a bit of positive interaction. I have never seen any aggressive behavior towards strangers or visitors.

Overall, I would say that Dobermans can make great family pets if you are willing to invest the time and effort into training and exercising them. They are intelligent, affectionate, and protective dogs that make great companions.

Hello all,

I have a Doberman who has been a wonderful addition to our family. He is very loyal, affectionate, and gentle with my kids. In fact, sometimes I think he sees himself as their big brother!

Our Doberman is also good with other pets. We have a small dog and a cat, and he gets along well with both of them. However, it's important to supervise their interactions, especially in the beginning, to ensure that everyone is safe and happy.

One thing to keep in mind with Dobermans is that they are very protective of their families. Our Doberman will bark if he hears someone approaching the house or if he senses any potential danger. However, he has never been aggressive towards strangers, and instead will greet visitors with a wagging tail and a friendly demeanor.

Overall, I believe that Dobermans can make great family pets if they are socialized and trained properly. They are energetic and intelligent dogs that thrive with regular exercise and mental stimulation. If you are willing to put in the effort, a Doberman can make a wonderful addition to your family.
