Hello everyone,
I am a first-time Doberman owner and I am very excited to bring home my new puppy. However, I am unsure at what age I can take my puppy away from its mother. I want to make sure that I am doing everything correctly to ensure my pup's health and growth.
I have read some conflicting information online, some say six weeks and others say eight weeks. I want to know what is the best age to take a Doberman puppy away from its mother without causing any harm?
Also, I would love to hear some tips on how to care for a new Doberman puppy and what kind of socialization exercises I can do with it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Greetings!
I have had Dobermans in my family for many years now and I can assure you that eight weeks is the acceptable age for a Doberman puppy to leave its mother. That is when they have developed the necessary social skills and have the ability to eat solid food.
Bringing a new Doberman puppy home can be a fun and rewarding experience, but it takes intentional training, patience, and commitment on the part of the owner. One thing I have found useful while caring for a new Doberman pup is setting an eating schedule for them. This is necessary to help them to get used to a routine, and will also help housebreak them.
In addition, I found that obedience training, especially at a young age, was vital in raising a well-behaved and socialized Doberman pup. Also, exposing your Doberman to different environments and people at a young age will help them to develop social skills and improve their confidence.
Furthermore, I would also recommend researching some basic health care policies, such as regular vet check-ups and vaccinations, to ensure that your puppy remains healthy and fit.
Overall, a Doberman puppy is an energetic and intelligent breed, which requires an active lifestyle and proper care for them to grow into a well-behaved adult dog. I hope this is helpful!
