Hi everyone,
I have a 1-year-old Doberman and I'm considering getting his ears cropped. I didn't have this done when he was a puppy as I wanted to see how his ears would naturally grow. Now that he's a year old, I think he would look really handsome with cropped ears.
My question is, is it possible to crop a Doberman's ears at this age? And if so, are there any risks or potential complications I should be aware of? I want to make sure that I'm doing what's best for my dog and not putting him in any danger.
Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Hey everyone,
I have a Doberman with natural ears, and I've never regretted my decision to leave them as they are. While I definitely understand the aesthetic appeal of cropped ears, I think it's important to consider the potential risks and downsides before making a decision.
One of the biggest risks is post-operative infection, which can be extremely painful and dangerous for your dog. Additionally, ear cropping can be an expensive procedure, and the healing process can be time-consuming and stressful for both you and your dog.
Another thing to consider is that many animal welfare organizations oppose ear cropping, as it's considered an unnecessary and potentially harmful procedure. If you're interested in showing your Doberman, it's worth noting that natural ears are becoming increasingly accepted in the show ring.
Ultimately, it's up to you to decide what's best for your dog. While I'm happy with my decision to leave my Doberman's ears natural, I understand that others may feel differently. It's important to carefully weigh the potential risks and benefits, as well as your own personal feelings and values, before making a decision.
