Hi there,
I'm considering getting a Doberman and I've heard that they are high energy dogs. I love the breed, but I'm concerned about their energy level and whether or not one Doberman can handle living on their own. I've heard that sometimes, getting two dogs of the same breed can be a good idea, as they can keep each other company and tire each other out. Is this the case with Dobermans? Would getting two Dobermans be a good idea, or would it be too much energy for one household to handle? I'm interested in hearing from dog owners who have experience with Dobermans and can offer some advice on whether or not it's a good idea to get two of them. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Hello!
As a Doberman owner, I can say that these dogs are highly active and require a lot of exercise. While they might not necessarily need another Doberman to be happy, having another dog can definitely be beneficial in terms of companionship and reducing their energy level.
My experience with my Doberman has been that he can sometimes become destructive or bored if he doesn't get enough exercise or stimulation. When I introduced another dog into our home, I noticed that it not only gave my Doberman a playmate, but it also helped to calm him down and reduce his destructive tendencies. It was like he finally had someone to help him burn off all that excess energy!
However, I do want to stress that getting another dog is a big commitment and should not be taken lightly. It's important to make sure that you have enough time, resources and space to accommodate another dog. Additionally, if you do decide to get another Doberman, it's important to make sure that they are well-socialized and properly trained to prevent any dominance or aggression issues.
Overall, I think that if you're able to provide for another dog and the personalities of the dogs match well, then getting another dog can be a great way to help your Doberman release some of their energy and give them a companion to play with.
