Q:

Do GSDs (German Shepherds), Rottweilers and Dobermans get along together?

Hey guys,

I am a proud owner of a GSD and I am planning to adopt a Rottweiler or Doberman. I have been reading online about these breeds and I have heard mixed opinions about how they get along together. Some articles say that GSDs, Rottweilers and Dobermans can be great companions while others suggest that they may have aggressive tendencies towards each other.

I would like to know from personal experiences, how these breeds do with each other. Have any of you owned these breeds together? How did they react towards each other? Did they get along or did they have issues? As an inexperienced owner, I am looking for insights from those who have experienced having multiple large breeds in their household.

Thank you in advance for your responses!

Hey everyone,

I own a GSD and a Rottweiler, and they get along wonderfully together. From the very beginning, they showed interest in each other and have been best friends ever since. It's been such a joy to watch them play together, cuddle and even share their toys and food.

One thing I noticed that has contributed to their great relationship is that they both have very calm personalities. They are not overly aggressive or territorial, which I think has played a major role in their friendship.

That being said, I do take precautions to ensure their safety. I always supervise their interactions and make sure to separate them if I sense any tension. I also train them regularly to reinforce good behavior and prevent any potential issues.

Overall, I would say that as long as both pets have a good temperament and are trained properly, there is a good chance they will get along great. It all comes down to taking the time to understand each breed's personality and making sure they are compatible before bringing them into the same household.

Hello everyone,

I am the proud owner of a GSD and a Doberman, and they get along well together. When we first brought the Doberman home, we were worried he would have trouble acclimating to our GSD but to our surprise, they became fast friends.

I think the key to their friendship is the fact that we made sure to give them both equal attention and love. Training has also played a major role in ensuring the safety and comfort of both our dogs. Our GSD had already been trained from a young age so we made sure to train the Doberman as well.

While they do have their minor scuffles, they are quick to forget about it and continue playing together. It has been such a joy to watch them grow up together and bond over the years.

Overall, I would say that as long as you properly train your dogs and give them enough attention, love, and socialization, then GSDs, Rottweilers and Dobermans can definitely make great companions and get along well together.

Hello everyone,

I have owned a Rottweiler and a Doberman together in the past and unfortunately, they did not get along very well. Despite being trained and socialized from a young age, they would often have spats and seemed to be constantly on edge around each other.

While this was definitely a challenge for me and my family, we tried our best to manage the situation by keeping them separate at times and supervising them closely whenever they were together. However, it was clear that they were never going to be the best of friends.

In hindsight, I think the issue may have been due to both breeds being quite dominant and territorial in nature. I would advise anyone looking to adopt multiple dogs to really research and consider the individual characteristics of each breed before making a decision.

It's important to remember that every dog is different and just because some breeds may get along well together doesn't mean that all of them will. So, it's always best to proceed with caution and take appropriate measures to ensure the safety and happiness of all your furry companions.

Hey there,

I have personal experience with owning a GSD, Rottweiler, and a Doberman together. I can tell you that they all got along great! At first, my Rottweiler was a bit wary of the Doberman but after a few days, they became best friends. They would play together all day long and would even sleep together at night.

The GSD was actually the leader of the pack and seemed to always be watching over the other two dogs. They never had any issues with each other and were always happy together.

I think it really depends on the individual dog's personality and upbringing. If they are raised with other dogs from a young age and are properly socialized, they can get along great with other breeds.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

I have owned a GSD and a Rottweiler in the past and they got along great! Although I haven't owned a Doberman, I have had experience with them and I can safely say that they are great dogs too.

While I agree that individual dog personalities and upbringing play a big role in their behavior towards other dogs, it's also important to train them properly. I made sure to train both my dogs from a young age, using positive reinforcement methods, and they were very well-behaved.

In fact, their friendship was so strong that whenever one of them fell sick, the other dog would stay by their side until they got better. They were truly loyal to each other.

Overall, I think as long as you properly train your dogs and give them love and attention, there shouldn't be any issues with them getting along.
