Hi everyone,
I have a 1-year-old Doberman whom I've been taking for walks regularly. However, I'm not really sure what distance would be appropriate for his age and breed. I don't want to overwork him, but at the same time, I want to make sure he's getting enough exercise.
He's generally active and energetic, and I usually walk him twice a day - once in the morning and once in the evening. So, how many miles should I aim to walk him each day? Any advice from fellow Doberman owners or dog experts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

For my 1-year-old Doberman, I usually aim to walk him for around 2-3 miles per day. I've noticed that he generally becomes quite restless if he misses his daily walk, however, I also make sure not to overdo it as he can become a little too hyperactive if he gets too much exercise.
One thing that has worked well for me is to break up the walks throughout the day. I often take him for a short walk in the morning, around midday, and then again in the evening, and this seems to work well in terms of giving him the right amount of exercise without exhausting him.
But as others have already mentioned, it's important to remember that every dog is different, so what works for me might not work for someone else. Always start with a shorter distance and build up over time, keeping a watch on your dog's behavior and energy levels. If you're ever in doubt, don't hesitate to consult a vet for advice.
