Hey everyone!
I am contemplating getting a dog and I am debating between getting a Doberman or a Rottweiler. I am seeking advice from experienced dog owners to help me make the right choice.
I live in a spacious apartment with my husband and two children. We have a small backyard as well. I am looking for a dog that will provide protection for my family while also being a loyal companion. Additionally, I want a dog that is easy to train and does not require excessive grooming.
I have done some research and both breeds seem to fit the bill in terms of providing protection and loyalty. However, I am not sure which breed is better suited for a family with children. I have heard that Rottweilers can be more aggressive and dominant while Dobermans are more sensitive and intelligent.
Any insights or experiences with these breeds would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Hey there,
I have owned both a Doberman and a Rottweiler, so I can share my personal experience with both breeds. In terms of protection and loyalty, both breeds excel at it. However, there are some differences between the two.
Dobermans tend to be more sensitive and intelligent, which makes them great companions for families with children. They are easy to train, and they are also very active, which is a good thing for families with kids who want to play with the dog. They are also relatively low maintenance when it comes to grooming. However, they can be prone to separation anxiety, meaning they can become destructive if left alone for long periods of time.
On the other hand, Rottweilers have a reputation for being more aggressive and dominant, which is why it's essential to socialize and train them correctly from a young age. They are also fiercely loyal and protective of their families. However, they do require more grooming than Dobermans and can be prone to health issues. Additionally, they tend to shed a lot, so that's something to consider.
Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference and lifestyle. Both breeds are excellent protectors and loyal companions, but you have to consider the dog's individual personality and their compatibility with your family's lifestyle. I hope this helps!
