Q:

What do you call it when you mix a Doberman with a Yorkie?

Hi everyone,

I've been thinking about getting a new pet and I've been considering getting a mix breed dog. I recently came across a photo of a cute puppy that looked like a cross between a Doberman and a Yorkie. I was wondering if anyone knew what this type of mix breed is called? I'm not too familiar with dog breeds, so any information would be helpful. Also, if anyone has any experience with owning a Doberman/Yorkie mix, I would love to hear about it! Thank you in advance.

Hello,

I would like to add to this thread about the Doberman/Yorkie mix. I also have personal experience owning one of these dogs and I can confirm that they are a unique and loyal breed. Our dog has a very playful and energetic personality, but also loves to cuddle and spend time with us. She is very protective during walks and has an impressive bark that makes her a great guard dog.

However, as user 1 mentioned, it's important to be prepared for the size difference that this mix can have. Ours is on the smaller side, but other Dob-York mixes may be larger and require more exercise and space. Also, due to their Doberman heritage, they may have a strong prey drive, so it's important to train and socialize them properly.

In conclusion, I would highly recommend considering a Doberman/Yorkie mix as a pet. They are a loving and unique breed, and have brought so much joy and laughter to our family.

Hi there,

I'm glad to see others have shared their experience with Doberman/Yorkie mixes. I wanted to offer my perspective as well as my Dober-York means the world to me. He's a great companion that brings a lot of laughter and joy in our lives.

Like other posters, I can attest to the energy and playfulness of the breed, which makes him a great fit for my family as we have small children who love to play. However, I do feel that his training has been quite easy as he is more inclined to follow his training than to be stubborn.

Regarding his temperament, he shows loyalty and protection with familiarity but warms up quickly on a new face as long as they don't show signs of aggression. He saw an old friend of ours after a few months and was waggy and happy, and that shows the relaxed and friendly nature of the breed.

If size is an issue, you should know our pup is more to the Yorkie side, while another Dober-York owner I know has a Dober-resembling breed. So, it is important to do your research and spend some quality time with the pup before you welcome them home.

Ultimately, it has been a great experience to own a Doberman/Yorkie mix, and I strongly suggest the option if you are looking for a unique, affectionate and loving companion.

Greetings,

I have never owned a Doberman/Yorkie mix, however, my neighbor has one and I can tell you that it's quite an interesting combination. From what I've observed, the dog exhibits traits from both breeds, which is pretty cool. The physical appearance of the dog is striking too, with the Doberman's strong build and the Yorkie's adorable characteristics. It's a unique-looking dog, for sure.

As for the temperament, I've seen this dog to be loving and friendly, which is typical of a Yorkie. But it's also incredibly loyal and protective like a Doberman, making for a great watchdog. The dog is very active and playful, so it needs lots of exercise and stimulation to stay happy and healthy.

From my experience with my neighbor's dog, I can say that a Doberman/Yorkie mix is a good choice for anyone who wants a dog that is both cute and fierce, and who can protect and love their family with equal vigor. But as always, I'd recommend researching further about the traits and care requirements of each breed individually before making a final decision.

Hey all,

I have also had the pleasure of owning a Doberman/Yorkie mix for the past few years and wanted to add my two cents to this thread. Our dog, which we lovingly call a Doberkie, has been an absolutely wonderful addition to our family. She has a ton of energy and loves to play, but also enjoys relaxing and cuddling up with us on the couch.

One thing that I think hasn't been mentioned yet is the temperament of the Doberkie. In my experience, they tend to have a pretty strong personality and can be quite stubborn at times. This can make training a bit of a challenge, but with patience and persistence, you can definitely get them on the right track. Our Doberkie is very loyal and protective of us, which has been a huge comfort and source of security.

Overall, if you're considering getting a Doberman/Yorkie mix, I would definitely recommend it. They are a unique and playful breed that can bring a lot of joy to your household. But, as with any dog, it's important to do your research, make sure you're ready for the responsibility of pet ownership, and find a reputable breeder or adoption agency.

Hi there,

I can answer your question as I happen to own a Doberman/Yorkie mix! It's a relatively uncommon breed, so there may not be a specific name for it. Some people simply refer to them as "Dober-Yorkies" or "Dob-Yorks".

As for my experience with my pup, she has been an absolute blessing. She's very energetic and playful, but also very loyal and protective. She's great with kids and loves to cuddle. She has a bit of a stubborn streak, but with consistent training, she's been a great addition to our family.

One thing to keep in mind with this specific mix is their size. Ours is on the smaller side, but we have heard of others being closer to Doberman size. So, it's important to do your research and make sure you're prepared for the size and energy level of the dog.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this mix to anyone who is looking for a unique and loving addition to their family.

Hi guys,

I just stumbled upon this thread and wanted to share my own experience with owning a Doberman/Yorkie mix. I got my pup about two years ago and I have to say he has been an incredible pet, easily the best dog I've ever had.

Mine is currently about the size of a small Doberman; his coat is short, shiny, and black like a Doberman, but he definitely takes after the Yorkie in terms of his facial features. One thing I love about this breed is how loyal they are - my little guy is very protective of my family and can be a bit wary of strangers at first; however, once he gets to know you, he is the sweetest little dog and will shower you with affection.

One thing that I would caution future owners about is that even though these dogs tend to be on the small side, they absolutely require regular exercise and playtime. They have a ton of energy and will go crazy if they don't get enough time to run around and blow off steam. So if you're considering a Dober-York mix, make sure you have the time and energy to give your dog the attention and exercise they need.

All in all, I wholeheartedly recommend this breed to anyone looking for a playful, loyal, and protective companion. They make fantastic pets as long as you're willing to put in the work to properly train them and give them the attention they deserve.

Hi there,

I'm not sure if there is a specific name for the mix between a Doberman and a Yorkie, but I can tell you from personal experience that it makes for an amazing companion. My dog is a Doberman/Yorkie mix and she is the sweetest, most fun-loving pup I've ever had. She's small in size but has the loyalty and protective nature of a Doberman.

One thing to keep in mind is that with any mix breed, there can be variations in temperament and physical characteristics. For example, my dog takes after the Yorkie in terms of her coat and size, but she definitely has the Doberman's energy levels and need for exercise. So, if you do end up getting a Doberman/Yorkie mix, it's important to make sure you're prepared to provide the proper care and attention they need.

Overall, I highly recommend this mix breed if you're looking for a loyal, loving, and energetic companion. Good luck with your search!

Hey,

I used to work at a dog shelter where we frequently had Doberman/Yorkie mixes up for adoption, and I can tell you that they were some of the nicest dogs we had. These dogs were generally friendly, outgoing and loved attention. While I agree with the other responses about the energy and exercise requirements, it's worth noting that each dog has its own unique personality, and the mix of these breeds can result in some unexpected traits.

For instance, one Doberman/Yorkie mix we had was a bit of a lazy dog, and preferred lounging in the sun rather than going for long walks. Another mix we had was highly intelligent and needed lots of mental stimulation in addition to physical exercise. It really depends on the individual dog's personality as well as the amount of time and effort the owner is willing to put into their care.

Overall, I think that the Doberman/Yorkie mix can make a wonderful pet for the right person. They're generally loyal, affectionate, and great watchdogs. However, it's important to do your research and find a breeder or shelter that has properly socialized and cared for the puppies before bringing one home.
