Hi everyone,
I recently adopted a Doberman and I'm wondering what type of training would be best for him. He's a very active dog and I want to make sure he gets enough exercise and mental stimulation. I also want to make sure he's well-behaved and obedient.
I've never owned a Doberman before, so I'm not sure where to start when it comes to training. I've heard that they can be strong-willed and require a lot of discipline, so I want to make sure I'm doing everything right.
Does anyone have any recommendations for training methods or programs that have worked well with Dobermans? Are there any specific exercises or activities I should focus on with him? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,
I've owned a Doberman for several years now and I can say that training them can be challenging, but also rewarding. This breed is intelligent and active, so they need a lot of mental and physical stimulation to stay healthy and happy.
What worked for me is finding a balance between positive reinforcement and discipline. Dobermans can be stubborn at times, so it's important to be consistent with the rules and boundaries you set. I also use a lot of redirection and distraction techniques when he's misbehaving, rather than punishment.
When it comes to exercise, my Doberman needs at least 30 minutes of exercise in the morning and another 30 minutes in the evening to burn off his energy. We go on walks, runs, or play fetch in the yard to keep him active, but I've also found that training and endurance exercises help too. We've tried cycling, swimming, and agility training, all of which he loves.
Socialization is also important for Dobermans. I introduced my Doberman to other dogs, cats, and people early on to prevent any aggressive or fearful behavior towards them. It also helps to expose them to different environments and situations, such as crowded places or loud noises, so they can adjust to them.
Overall, Dobermans are amazing dogs that can be great companions with the right training and care. They're loyal, protective, and loving, and they'll do anything to please their owners. So if you're thinking of getting one, make sure you're ready for the challenge and the joy they will bring to your life.
